Fat burning is a multi-step process. To be used as an energy source by the cell, the fatty acids need to be activated. Only after this activation can the fatty acid cross the mitochondiral membrane and burn.
The CoAxel ingredient combination contains Coenzyme A, L-carnitine and caffeine. CoA’s main role is in fatty acid activation – the result of the process is a fatty acid molecule linked to a CoA molecule. CoA can transfer it to the L-carnitine, which is part of the transport system, responsible for moving fatty acids through the mitochondrial membrane.
L-carnitine’s main role is fatty acid transport into the mitochondria. A lack of L-carnitine renders the cell incapable of using fat as fuel. If we can increase intracellular L-carnitine concentrations, the cells’ metabolism will shift to the aerobic direction – preferring fatty acids as their primary fuel. The L-carnitine – CoA system defines the cells’ fat burning capacity. Lack of CoA or L-carnitine leads to a decrease in fat burning.
L-carnitine can be absorbed through the skin, can enter the cells, elevate concentration of L-carnitine and increase fat burning. Topical application of L-carnitine can enhance skin tone and decrease cellulite.[1,2,3]
The third ingredient – caffeine – is a known ergogenic supplement. Caffeine can increase lipolysis in the adipocytes, elevate levels of fat burning hormones like adrenaline and stimulate lymphatic circulaton.[4,5,6]
Inflammation can increase cortisol levels. High cortisol levels lead to abdominal fat accumulation. Decreasing inflammation can decrease cortisol.[7,8] The Bupleurum plant genus contains numerous species. All members of the genus contain a family of compounds, called saikosaponins. These have strong anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective and immunoregulatory effects. Certain saikosaponins can bind to glucocoticoid receptors and so may have an effect on fat burning.[9,10]
