WHAT STEELFIT PRODUCTS DON'T DO

We recieve this question all the time:


So I apply the cream to my skin and it will start burning of the excess fat, no matter what I eat and how I train? 

Some people just buy the cream and ask no questions – we want to believe in miracles. 
The other half of our readers declare that „local fat burning does not exist”, and that „you need a caloric deficit to burn fat”. 

Now, who is right? Is it useless, or is it a miracle? 
The answer is: neither is right – or both! 

Let’s look at the basic physiological processes, that take place during fat burning and how the SteelFit products enter the picture. 


Let’s start with fat burning 101: 

The adipocyte contains a lipid droplet, made up of triglycerides. During fat accumulation, the size of this droplet increases as more triglycerides get stored in the adipocyte. During a diet, when we are shredding bodyfat, the size of the droplet decreases – the triglycerides are broken down to free fatty acids and glycerol, and released into theblood stream. Whether we are burning fa tor accumulating is dependent on the hormonal milieu. Certain hormones (adrenaline, noradrenaline, glucagon, growth hormone) promote fat burning, while others promote fat accumulation (insulin). The hormonal milieu is, of course, influenced by the nutritional status of the body – how much we ate, what we ate, how much calories we consume during the day, and so on. 
These hormones reach almost all of the cells of our body through circulation. That means that a high insulin will increase fat accumulation everywhere in the body (in every adipocyte), or that fat burning hormones will promote triglyceride breakdown in every adipocyte. That means that local fat burning does not exist. We are either in fat burning mode or not. 

All that is great, but… 
How is it possible that all the ladies lose fat from their bosom first, and from the buttocks last? They all complain about decreasing cup sizes, while their bottoms don’t change. 
What is it, if not local fat burning? 

The answer is: local fat burning does not exist, but eventhough the proper hormonal milieu is a must for shredding bodyfat, it is not everything. There are other factors at play. The triglycerides broken down in the adipocytes exit the cells and leave the adipose tissue in the blood and the lymphatic vessels. If the circulation is insufficient, these products accumulate locally and stop lipolysis. Proper circulation is crucial for lipolysis, but the adipose tissue is poorly vascularized, because one of its functions is insulating the body. Increasing circulation can increase the amount of fat extracted from that area. 
This is not local fat burning. This is targeted fat mobilization. 

Lifting weights increases adrenaline, noradrenalin, growth hormone and cortisol – our bodies start mobilizing our stored energy. This hormonal milieu is perfect for induction of lipolysis, although the increase in circulation is insufficient to the complete extraction of free fatty acids from the adipose tissue. If we increase circulation, we increase the amount of fat extracted from a certain area. 

This targeted mobilization is still preceded by the proper hormonal milieu – so we have to be in fat burning mode, to be able to mobilize any fat from the adipose tissue. The SteelFit products can help a lot, but can’t deliver miracles. 

Summary:

  1. Lipolysis:
    • There is no such thing as local fat burning.
    • There is a thing called increased fat mobilization from a certain area – you need elevated circulation.
    • If your diet is not hypocaloric, and you are not in a calorie deficit, you will not lose fat.
  2. What SteelFit products don’t do:
    • They do not offset a bad diet.
    • They do not train for you.
    • They do not break the laws of physiology.

We call these creams „fat burning creams”, but a more appropiate name would be „targeted fat mobilizer creams”. These creams do no do the work for you, but they can help you achieve superior results – if you put in the work!
